Fury After Melania Trump Wears Insensitive Jacket Mocking Migrant Children

First Lady Melania Trump visited migrant children in Texas today–and her insensitive outfit choice has caused widespread anger. Trump wore a jacket that said ‘I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?’ on the back of it.

Yes, really.

The 48-year-old arrived at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland wearing the $39 jacket, which is produced by Zara. She then boarded her private plane and headed for Texas to visit the children.

When she touched down in Texas, she had removed the offensive jacket.

Most likely, one of her staff members drew attention to the offensive nature on her jacket while they were in the air.

After DailyMail.com identified the jacket, people on Twitter came down hard on Mrs. Trump for being completely “tone deaf.”

Melania’s spokeswoman denied the First Lady was sending a message by wearing the jacket. She said, “It’s a jacket. There was no hidden message. After today’s important visit to Texas, I hope this isn’t what the media is going to choose to focus on.”

She added, “Her goals are to thank law enforcement and social services providers for their hard work, lend support and hear more on how the administration can build upon the already existing efforts to reunite children with their families.”

The statement on the jacket speaks volumes about the stance President Trump and his administration have taken towards migrant children, who were being separated from their parents by US Border Patrol. The children were sleeping in cages, with not enough food and no diapers for thousands of babies.

Yesterday President Trump reversed the policy with an executive order, but the thousands of children already separated from their parents will not be helped. Additionally, under the new policy, families will still be kept in cages although they will not be separated.

It is an inhumane practice that has caused a wave of outrage across the nation during the last week.

How many more families, babies, and children need to suffer under this president?
