Last week, Roseanne Barr’s sitcom “Roseanne” was cancelled by ABC after the star took to Twitter to refer to Barack Obama’s former advisor Valerie Jarrett as an “ape.” Barr responded to the cancellation by posting a fake photo that shows “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg wearing what appears to be a shirt showing President Donald Trump shooting himself in the head.
“Out of curiosity @ABC & @Disney this is okay with you? Hypocrisy on the Left is sickening! Your Pathetic! #BoycottABC #IStandWithRoseanne,” Barr posted alongside the photo in a tweet that has since been deleted.
ET Online caught up with Whoopi on Monday night to talk to her about the fake photo that has plagued her since Trump was elected, and to ask her about what she thinks Barr’s future will hold.
“This freaking shirt comes out every time somebody wants to say something and I just feel like I have to keep saying it’s not real, you know?” Goldberg said defiantly. “I understand you’re going through you, but don’t take me with you. Don’t try to take me. I can try to get bad on my own. They make up stuff about me anyway, so I just wanted to be clear.”
Goldberg then had a surprising response when she was asked if Barr will be able to make a comeback.
“I’m sure she can. Everybody seems to be able to come back, so,” she said as she shrugged.
I guess if Trump could get elected despite his documented history of racism and sexism, anybody really can make a comeback these days!
Barr’s initial comments about Jarrett were bad enough, but she has made things even worse for herself by doubling down on her insanely offensive tweets since her show’s cancellation. It’s despicable that she would dare try to take a renowned African American woman like Goldberg down with her after she hurled that racial epithet at Jarrett.
